Tutorials

Below are a few small tutorials to show the possibilities of NuonSoft ShellEnhancer.

  ^

Use a mouse gesture to search Google

You can setup ShellEnhancer in such a way that you can use a mouse gesture to search Google for the selected word. To do this, follow the following steps:

  • Right click on the ShellEnhancer system tray icon (the icons next to the clock of Windows) and click on "Manage Hotkey Tasks...". A new window will appear.
  • Click on the "Tasks"-menu and choose "Add New Task...". A new window will be opened.
  • Give a name to this new task, for example "Google for selected text".
  • Click on the "+"-button next to "Commands", choose "Run Commands" and then choose "Run...". A new window will appear.
  • Type "iexplore.exe" in the "Application" entry.
  • Type "http://www.google.com/search?q=%%s" in the "Parameters" entry.
  • Enable the checkbox "Use selected text as %%S parameter".
  • Press OK.
  • If you also want to assign a shortcut to this task, click on the "+"-button next to "Hotkeys", press the hotkey you want and click on OK.
  • Click OK.
  • Click on the "Tools"-menu and choose "Assign Task To Mouse Gestures...", which will open a new window.
  • Enable the "Enable" checkbox at the top.
  • Choose a mouse gesture, for example "zigzag".
  • Click on the second column of the row containing "zigzag" in the listbox.
  • A list of all your tasks will appear. Choose the task you have just created above. In our example it is called "Google for selected text".
  • Setup the "General Settings" as you wish.
  • Click "Close".
  • Close the "ShellEnhancer - Hotkey Task Manager" window.

Our Google mouse gesture is now ready. To test it, open Notepad and write a word in Notepad. Now, select this word in Notepad and make the mouse gesture that you have selected above. A new Internet Explorer window should be opened which will search on Google for the selected word.
